ShamronThis is Shamron, and you're listening to Open Hearts Hidden Truths. So I thought I'd mix things up a little bit and do a summer roundtable series. I've got my best friend with me, my partner in crime, my favorite sparring partner, Toby. Also known as Skank, and vice versa.
TobyIn Chicago. I'm in Chicago.
ShamronIn Chicago. So I thought we'd just talk about some hot topics, some things that caught my eye this week.
TobyOkay.
ShamronAnd um you know one of these topics. We started talking about them. I I like I think you you know one of them. You might know two, actually. But we started talking about one of them the other day, and I thought, let's save it. Let's save it for an episode. Because it's just so strange. And there's actually an update to it. Like I have more info about it. Uh and that is cyborg cockroaches.
Creepy Crawlies
TobyGood Lord.
ShamronSo so there are these th so this was actually um they actually created this or they started working on this, these little cyborg uh cockroaches about ten years ago. So they're outfitted with these little backpacks, these little guys. And so their their whole goal, their whole purpose is to aid in search and rescue missions, um, places that humans can't get to. And um now I'm not sure how many times they've tested these out, but I did see an article that they tested them out in some some disaster area, I think it was an earthquake last year in uh 2025. The latest development on these has been, you ready for this? Diving suits. They've created so people in Singapore, some researchers, have created diving suits. I saw the pictures for these little insects. And what happens is I can't.
TobyI just go keep going, sorry. I just can't. All right. And this has been proven.
ShamronThis has been proven that they've actually rescued something. Well, no, no, no. It they haven't rescued anybody yet. It's just they they've built, manufactured, created whatever you want to call it, these guys in Singapore. Um they've cus they've custom uh outfit I don't I don't even know what the proper terminology is, but they've created these little chambers for these creatures where it pumps oxygen. Um so they can be fully submerged underwater for up to three hours in these little chambers. So, you know, they plan on using them in uh you know, like like tsunamis and hurricanes and you know, all these things where humans can't get to.
TobyYou know, here's my thing. How are you gonna train the cockroach? I mean, you know, if you got the little outfits and stuff, how do you train them? Do you take them like you do like a dog and train them? I mean, how do you do that?
ShamronSo you don't train them, but you can you can get them to nudge you can nudge them. I'm not sure if it's sort of like a shock thing, but you can get them to go in different areas by nudging them electronically. It doesn't sound like they hurt the cockroach in any way, but the way I figure it, put these nasty bastards to work. I mean, that's the way I look at it.
TobyI mean really though, is that could you really put a backpack on the other side?
ShamronWell, they have. They already have. They have and now they want to uh put diving suits on these guys. I'm all for it. I think that's fantastic because they're so gross. Put them to work.
TobyWho cares? Yeah. It's not like you're putting a an a a cat or a dog or something in through it, right?
ShamronI mean, it's kind of incredible that they can be submerged, though, and breathe for up to three hours.
TobyWell, if they're in like a little if they're in like a little chamber, maybe it's no different than a person going down that's, you know, has the air air pack on their back and stuff, you know?
ShamronExactly. That's exactly what it is. It's like a, you know, like it's no different than a human that goes deep sea diving and they have uh, you know, an oxygen tank.
TobyHey, little Bill, we're gonna put this little backpack on you and we're gonna send you down in the water. You go, you go take care of things.
ShamronWell, these guys these guys aren't are they're not wearing backpacks. These guys are wearing suits, diving suits.
TobyWell, I guess my thing would be if you can do that with a cockroach, why aren't you doing that with a robot? You know, why can't you make a robot so small that you can kind of have like you know handles on and stuff and to get them to dive down? I mean, because at least you have much more control over a robot than you would a cockroach. It's not like you can be like, hey dude, uh turn to the left 25 inches, you know?
ShamronActually, that's kind of a good point. Like, why can't they just create a tiny little mini robot? I I don't know. I mean, I I don't I don't know.
TobyWe have we have driverless cars. There are uh places that are making coffee with robots. Even I was telling you about my uncle with the prostate cancer. The doctor never sees you. He couldn't this robot, this kind of arms come in and do all of the surgery kind of stuff for him. So I mean, I I guess I could understand if you were able to strap some sort of a video camera on these cockroaches to see where they were going and to kind of see what was happening, you know, beneath where you're trying to get into. But a suit? Okay.
ShamronWell maybe they do maybe they do have cameras. I don't know. Sorry, I interrupted.
TobyNo, no, you're good. Um I'm sure that they do probably have uh cameras.
ShamronThey must. They must. But actually you make but that's a good point, though. Why not just I don't know. Maybe it's because they're already there, you know.
TobyI don't know. Like I said, if if we're able to progress to a point to where uh where even there's that thing, Coco, that drives around all the time, the little things that come down. If we can have a even a person driving a car, why don't we have a small why don't you make a little bitty robot that can go inside, like you said, tsunamis, if there's like mass devastation on something and everything's kind of piled on top of people? When you mentioned the cockroach thing to me, it just kind of really cracked me up because I was like, really?
ShamronI thought it was fake when when I first read it, I was like, this can't be real. This can't be then I I saw the pictures of it. And I guess it's just because they're already there, they're already created, they don't have to spend all that money creating a little robot. So it's probably something about being uh, you know, cost effective, I would guess. I don't know.
TobyWell, I mean if if McDonald's can make a robot to flip hamburgers, we can't find a robot that can go down there and do, you know, at least see stuff down there. Like I said, that all just seems really silly to me. What country made that up or started that?
ShamronWell, these are researchers in Singapore, but what do you mean McDonald's flips burger? What do you mean since when do they have robots that flip burgers?
TobySo here in Chicago, there's been a couple of places. Starbucks has done it here in Chicago, and so has McDonald's. And they're saying it's not working, but at McDonald's, it was like there we have one of the first driverless or one of the most one of the first no human McDonald's here in Chicago, where you go through the drive-thru, you're met with a robot, you're met with another robot. Those robots are flipping the patties, so there's no humans doing it. Now I know that Starbucks did that as well with coffee, but the CEO of Starbucks came out and said this isn't working for us. They're not making a good coffee like a human would.
ShamronOh, interesting. So I don't know if we have that here. I don't recall us having that here in LA.
TobyWell, I know they do in San Francisco because um I've seen it on the news and I've my friend has been there before. There is a McDonald's in San Francisco where there's no human on. But you know, here's what happens. What if something malfunctions and there's no human there? You know? It just seems that seems kind of as crazy to me as this cockroach thing.
ShamronI mean, I can see how you'd have to have a human to make a good cup of coffee or a latte or whatever. I can see I can see that. But when it comes to flipping burgers, I mean anybody can flip a burger, even a robot. So are they so they're only doing so they're sticking to the robots with flipping burgers?
TobyWell, they did they've done a couple of test places, and I guess it's just not working out as well as they would have liked.
ShamronOh, so even okay, so all of it, all of the robots taking over human jobs with fast food and things like that.
TobyYeah. You know, it's not like um I hate to drop so many names, but Amazon. You know, Amazon uses these robots 24-7 and they're just putting together packages. That makes sense to me. I mean, it doesn't make sense because it's terrible for people that actually have a job working in a warehouse. But I can understand that, you know, there's no potty breaks, there's no lunch breaks, they work 24-7. They're essentially just putting tape and packaging and all that kind of stuff on it. Um that I can kind of understand, but making food or making a drink or something like that, you know, it does I don't. Who knows?
ShamronSo what's crazy is that the longer term goal for these cockroaches is to eventually go to space and go to go to Mars. So that that that's the uh that's the goal there. So we'll see. We'll see what we're doing.
TobyYeah, but how are you I mean, still you haven't answered the question. How are you able to train a cockroach to be like, turn to the left, turn to the right? You know, you know, in movies, we've you know, I lived in LA, you've been in LA for quite some time. We understand that you can train animals to do things on movie sets, right? To bark when they need to, to lay down, to do those things.
ShamronCuz, Skank, I told you they can be they can be nudged. Like they have a way of like electronically.
TobyWell, how are they getting nudged all the way down there?
ShamronWell, they it's all computerized. I don't know the exact specifics of how they're nudging them. They're they're able to somehow uh I guess make the make them go in in different directions. I mean they have to be.
TobyYeah, we'll have to do some we'll have to do some research on this because it doesn't really seem like I don't know, cockroaches in space. Good Lord.
Hold the Iceberg
ShamronSo uh so do you eat Taco Bell?
TobyUm I haven't had it for quite some time, but I grew up loving it, yes.
ShamronOkay, but you haven't had it in quite some time. Have you had shredded lettuce in in quite some time?
TobyOh no, I even stayed away from because there was at one point in time I was doing the bagged lettuce at the grocery store, but they thought that that was bad. But I think that the news that I read today was now they're kind of really pinpointing it on this uh place called Taylor Company.
ShamronOh, okay. So you have heard about you have heard the the latest with this outbreak then?
TobyYeah, yeah. So they think it's tied to that, which you know it's funny you bring that up. How do you feel about that? Do you think that that's going to be the demise of Taco Bell? Do you think that's gonna be what ends their brand?
ShamronSo so here's the thing. I first came up with this topic several days ago before they had even pinpointed where the outbreak was coming from. Uh and this is just one small piece of the puzzle. So um, you know, a parasite was floating around that was that was causing explosive diarrhea. And uh and I noticed that Illinois was they had lots of cases in Illinois and Kentucky and New York and Michigan and Indiana, all sorts of places nationwide. Um they weren't sure where it was coming from. Just like in the last maybe 48 hours, um, they found that that part of it, like one one they could pinpoint one area that it was coming from, from like you said, Taylor Farms, which is a California-based company, but the let the lettuce is coming from central Mexico.
TobyThat's interesting. I didn't know that.
ShamronYeah. So and Taylor Farms, they have shredded iceberg lettuce. Um they don't just distribute it to Taco Bell, but it's also uh Whole Foods, I believe Amazon, Target, Walmart, all sorts, they supply all sorts of places. So it's all been recalled, but they're still not sure where these other outbreaks are coming from. That has not that hasn't been determined yet. If any if all of this is connected, because I think it's only a five-state uh region that's been, you know, where they can say, hey, this is coming from Taylor Farms.
TobyYeah, yeah, pretty much in where my area of where I live, Ohio, Michigan. I think Michigan was the one that I saw today that was really the most affected uh state more than Illinois or Indiana and all that stuff. But hmm.
ShamronYeah, so I'm just kind of curious, like all these other places. Like you know, I don't I don't eat Taco Bell. I'm not really big on shredded lettuce. I don't really eat too much of that, but it was just kind of freaky not knowing where all these other all these other outbreaks are caused by. Like what is it caused by? Are they all related? Is it something else? And I guess you just have to wait and find out or possibly get sick and find out.
TobyWell, well, the reason I asked about how you thought it would impact Taco Bell, I know Taco Bell's a part of a very large chain. It's like KFC, isn't it several different restaurants that are lumped together?
ShamronLike owned by the same company, you mean?
TobyYeah, yeah. I think it's like Pizza Hut, Taco Bell. Um I'm not sure. Several other places that are that are tied together. Anyway, um, I just remember uh there was a place called Chi-Chi's when I was a young kid in the U.S.
ShamronI remember Chi-Chi's, yes.
TobyOh, that was the place that you would go on a you would go on a Friday and wait for three hours to get in. And I was probably like what 13, 14 Chi-Chi's.
ShamronWas this a Midwest chain? Because I was in Michigan at the time as a little girl. You were in Indiana. So yeah, it must have been it must have been a Midwest chain.
TobyWell, the only thing that they do now is they they they sell uh chips and salsa and cheese and stuff at grocery stores, so it's a little different. But Chi-Chi's went out of business, and I think they're trying to reopen their first store again back in the mid- in the Midwest, as we call it, the Midwest. Um and that's what caused Chi-Chi's to go out of business was somebody had some sort of uh I forget the name of it, they had a disease or something, hepatitis or something, and that was passed to a bunch of people in the restaurants, and they sued Chi-Chi's, and that's why Chi-Chi's went out of business. And with all this stuff, even today I was reading, I think there's already at least four or five lawsuits against Taco Bell, because these people were able to show that they were they had gotten food. This one person was like, Yeah, I got Taco Bell three times that day. And I was like, three times.
ShamronI think I had Taco Bell maybe 15 years ago.
TobyI've had it earlier than that. It is one of those places to get like a little soft shell taco. It hits the spot just a little something, but it's it's been a long time because here in Chicago we don't really have um we have one, actually, we have one down the street, and they're trying to be bougie with you know serving margaritas and all that stuff. And I'm like, it's that's not real Mexican food. You know.
ShamronWhat's interesting is that uh Taylor Farms was also linked to an E. coli outbreak with McDon with McDonald's slivered onions with their quarter pounders last year. It was no, I think it was 2024. No, I think you're right. Yeah, I saw it. It was kind of a quiet thing. It wasn't as big. I wonder why this thing with the lettuce has become such such a big deal. But yeah, they had the and I think they were comparing that to something that I was reading today that a McDonald's had the same thing with their slivered onions. Sounds funny. Slivered onions. I don't know why. It just sounds funny.
TobyOh, that sounds funny, but a cockroach with a backpack?
ShamronA diving suit. That they all sound funny. Just certain certain words clumped together sound odd.
TobyWell, you know, and here's the thing uh to wrap that up with the lettuce thing is you know, we've been around for a minute. I don't remember this kind of stuff ever surfacing when I was younger. You know, maybe because I didn't eat at those restaurants as I got older a little bit. I don't know. Like, you know what I mean? It's just interesting that all of a sudden we have all these outbreaks.
ShamronI mean, did you did you really pay attention though when you were younger? I mean, like, how old are you talking?
TobyWell, even in my twenties, uh my teens and my twenties, when I went to college, of course, I went to Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, you know. So we went to those kind of crappy little I shouldn't say crappy, it was what it was, you know. You know, fast food, cheap, easy. Yeah, Taco Bell, White Castle, you know, all those kinds of things. But I just don't remember hearing about these things like that then. Even through my well, and let's be honest, uh, I'll be honest with you, um, is that we haven't even seen this even prior. I I feel like since the pandemic, everybody wants to claim there's this horrible thing going on, you know? And I think if I'm not mistaken, was today the first day that actually somebody died from the lettuce outbreak?
ShamronOh, I didn't see that. Did somebody die from it?
TobyYeah, I think it was in I think it was in Detroit. Uh one or two people have died from it.
ShamronReally? Because the last I saw, nobody died from this from this uh outbreak, this parasite.
TobyYeah, it was just all over the news. Um not all over the news, but I was reading the news and seeing that.
Bathtub Blues
ShamronUm did you see this where uh in North Carolina an 82-year-old woman was trapped in her bathtub for nine days.
TobyNo.
ShamronYeah. So apparently she fell.
TobyHow was she trapped? Okay, so she felt she must have been elderly.
ShamronI just said she was eighty-two years old.
TobyWell, that's still not I mean, to me that's not super super old, but.
ShamronThat's old. That's elderly. Um she she fell in her bathtub. Um she fell in her bathtub, and you know, she's she's injured in there. She was, you know, I don't know what happened exactly. She wasn't able to hoist herself out of there. Um and uh and sh like her cell phone was out of the way. Her cat was the only other creature there in the house with her. Um she survived by turning the water on with her foot and splashing her face so that she could drink a little water. She said she drifted in and out of consciousness for uh for just hours, hours and hours for nine days. She would just go in and out of consciousness. Um am I saying that cons consciousness? Consciousness.
TobyShe was she was unconscious.
ShamronBut but drifting in and out of no consciousness. Consciousness. That's right.
TobyYou and I can you and I cannot pronounce words the last couple of days.
ShamronI want to put an N on that, but there's no consciousness is the I think the correctness.
TobyConscious? She she wasn't conscious.
ShamronRight. But yeah, drifted in and out of consciousness for nine days until finally her brother, who hadn't heard from her in a while, asked to to do a wellness check, and then the authorities showed up and, you know, found this woman uh in her bathtub. You know, that's something that kind of freaks me out about getting older and being, you know, if I'm single when I'm old, like that. Like that's that freaks me out. And I don't have a brother to do a wellness check on me.
TobyWell, you do, me. I mean, listen, if I didn't hear from you for four or five days, I would be like, hey, you know, I would I I you know, I we don't have really too many friends in common anymore, but I would call the police to do a wellness check.
ShamronWould you?
TobyOf course I would.
ShamronYou know, I mean if you wait, if you didn't hear from you would give it how long before you would freak out?
TobyProbably two days.
ShamronI don't believe you. I think you'd give it longer than that.
TobyWell, no, because no, because, Skank, you're the first person to call me back instantly or to at least answer. You're always the first one to text me. Um, you know. Uh now that we've reconnected again. Maybe not then, but now, yeah, if I didn't hear from you for like two or three days, there would be several things that I would be concerned about, you know? Just certain things. But yeah, I mean, isn't that really sad that it took somebody nine days to find her? Was she really that like nobody, you know, I mean, I'm very lucky that I have my mother around that calls me every day. Um, I have a couple of good friends that will call me every day. But if I was to go away for nine days, let's say we're done with this podcast, we got off uh off here, and you were like, I'm gonna call him and talk to him. And I didn't call you for like eight or nine days, wouldn't you at least send me a message that said, Hey, are you mad at me? Um there wouldn't be a reason for me to be mad, but I just think that nine days, and especially that she had a son, her son, her son, No, no, no, her brother. Her brother.
ShamronNo, no, no, her brother.
TobyHer brother.
ShamronYeah. You know what? I mean, you sometimes like to disappear and you like to turn off your phone, which actually I wish I would do more of. But you sometimes like to, you know, totally decompress and be uh without your phone for a while. I don't think that I would call to do a wellness check on you if it were I mean, it would have to get to I I would give it m well more than three days. Or four. I'd probably let it go a week.
TobyWell, I think also the sitting in my tub right now. Eating, eating, uh drinking my uh water and uh turn the turning the lights on. You sometimes like to, you know, yeah, but but but my disappearing is usually a day. Would you not agree? Typically a day. And I would think that if I if you called me once or twice and I didn't say send you at least a text. Hey I'm off the grill. That's true.
ShamronIf you didn't there was absolutely no interaction, yes, I I would definitely think something's up. So no. I I I'm slightly joking when I said I'd give it a week. But no if you didn't if you didn't acknowledge my text or a call or something, yeah I would I would probably start to freak out a little bit.
TobyYou wouldn't have to worry about it because uh a day and a half Debbie would be down up here so fast checking on me.
ShamronSo yeah but it's just kind of like for those that don't even have a friend or a brother or a family member or whatever to check. I don't know. It's just like one of those things that kind of freaks me out about getting older.
TobyNo it is no it is it is scary about getting older. Um yeah that you know there's nobody what if you start choking you know I'm a man that's about to be 50. What if I started to have heart problems? You know what I mean? You can't just it is kind of scary, but you know I also live in a high rise so there at least there are people around or something. I don't know. Like I said, you know that has always been on the back of my mind you know what am I going to you know what what what if something happened? But coulda, shoulda, woulda, you know? You know that's also interesting because we talked about the Gene Hackman thing that why didn't somebody know for eight or nine days like the people that mow their lawn, the people that takes care of their dogs, wouldn't you think at some point in time that somebody would notice hey the lights aren't on or I don't know.
ShamronYeah that that Gene Hackman story is so sad and strange.
TobyYeah and the fact that he has kids that didn't check on him for that long I mean that's just I mean I guess at the end of the day when I think about it, it doesn't matter if we were married and had kids and all that stuff, there's no guarantee you could still be you know living alone. I have several of my friends' mothers that are still alive that live alone because their their spouses have passed, you know, so there's no guarantee but.
Voices Carry
ShamronDid you hear about this Canadian woman? Actually I think we briefly briefly touched on this where this Canadian woman kept hearing voices and this was going on for a couple of years. And finally these specialists said that okay you you're schizophrenic. They gave her a bunch of medication it wasn't working didn't help her so eventually they found out oh you're not schizophrenic at all you just have untreated hearing loss. And I just thought...
TobyWhat does that mean untreated hearing loss?
ShamronSo so it was creating all these echoes her her I don't I don't know exactly how to phrase it, but it was her hearing loss was creating all of these echoes and it was causing her to hear things and it was uh pretty severe pretty severe in both ears but how do you misdiagnose that as schizophrenia though? That just seems that's almost like a horror movie to me.
TobyWell I feel like doctors are so fast to pass something on to something else. You know what I mean? Like they're they're gonna call it this. I was diagnosed bipolar then I was told I wasn't bipolar now I'm being told I'm ADHD then I was told you know I feel like they just whatever's the whatever the thing is now that that's what a doctor will come in see you really fast and just throw that diagnoses at you.
ShamronI mean I mean I'm not sure if but but hearing I mean I don't it's just such a monumental mistake. I just feel like somebody dropped the ball here at the very least I I wish there were more details.
TobyYeah well I again you know doctors are human sometimes I guess they do drop the ball.
ShamronYeah.
TobyYeah no I haven't heard I haven't heard haven't heard that story at all but yeah wouldn't that be crazy to be told that you're schizophrenic?
ShamronYeah and and then her her scans, all of her tests and stuff were showing up normal. When they were talking to her they noticed that she kept leaning forward um and and to listen and to hear them she kept leaning forward and I guess that's what gave them the inclination that oh hey she might be hard of hearing. Now it didn't say it didn't say what this woman's age was or like it didn't say any other details that I saw.
TobyWell that's interesting because um she had to have been around somewhere if she was hearing something but if she was hearing voices at home that doesn't make sense to me. Do you know what I'm saying? It's like okay if she was out at a restaurant or something and she was hearing things in the background but if you're at home watching TV, if you're hearing voices, what voices are you hearing even if you're hard of hearing?
ShamronI don't know. I I mean I I wish like I said I wish there were more details um the it was a little sparse on on some of the details. I I've never heard hearing loss manifesting as uh like voices like I I guess the way it's echoing the way the ear is processing it or something. I don't know much about that though.
TobyYeah that one that topic doesn't um really resonate with me so much. That's just kind of interesting though, you know to be told hey you're just deaf you're not hearing people. I mean how do you go from being schizophrenic to just having being hard of hearing?
ShamronWell she wasn't schizophrenic at all that's the point.
TobyNo, that's what I'm saying is what would what would have made them think what kind of battery of test would they have done with this person to be like oh you're schizophrenic? Um I can't imagine you know when when I was young uh back in 1910 when I was young um it was like you took a seven question test to see if you were depressed. How can seven questions do you want to get out of bed in the morning? No, who wants to get out of bed in the morning? Do you are are are you tired? Do you feel do you feel sad? Bitch, those are daily things. So so how do you diagnose somebody a schizophrenic without running a battery of tests? I mean schizophrenia is not like a new disease you know it's something that's been around so I it sounds like this doctor or whoever didn't do their due diligence.
ShamronRight, that's what it sounds like but again the the details are a little sparse but but yeah it's like did they do all these tests and recognize that everything in her brain looked normal after the medication wasn't working? Or did they run all these series of tests prior to rule things? I mean clearly they didn't rule anything out because they diagnosed her as being schizophrenic. So, I don't know, it sounds strange.
TobyWhy'd they even put her on the medication without knowing that, right? Because I mean from what I understand I've had a couple of friends parents that have schizophrenia that's some hardcore medication they're on. You know it's not something you just give somebody you know.
ShamronYeah and and then shockingly it's not working and she's still hearing the voices. Yeah that just sounds like a like a horrific movie, a nightmare.
TobyWell again it just sounds like the doctors I mean in in today's day and age to be diagnosed schizophrenia wouldn't you think that a family practitioner would have to send somebody to a therapist or to somebody that specializes in schizophrenia? You know what I mean? Just to diagnose and give you pills and say hey girl, have a good one . Hope those pills are good.
ShamronHopefully you won't hear any more voices go on your merry way.
TobyYeah that's just crazy to me like I said.
ShamronYeah that's weird. I mean maybe that's how they do things in Canada. I don't know.
TobyYeah well it they do have um free health care. And the one thing that I've heard is that the healthcare when it's free is not so good so.
ShamronUm what about you? What have have are there any uh subjects that have, you know, piqued your interest this week or fascinated you in any way or troubled you?
TobyNo, not really. Um you know. Politics are polticis. Um we had all that smoke in Chicago that was kind of a little hard thing but yeah no I just half the time when I read stuff anymore I'm like really okay here we go. You know what I mean?

TobyEven with this woman stuck in it stuck in a tub for nine days.
ShamronI didn't know that one would make you laugh. I I figured the explosive diarrhea would make you laugh but you had already heard of it so.
TobyWell you well well there's been memes going around that people are like hey if I want to lose weight just have Taco Bell lettuce you can lose 25 to 30 pounds. Well you know I don't know much about this since we're gonna circle back and go back into this whole lettuce diarrhea thing. So how long do you have the diarrhea? And like how long are you sick? Do you call out of work?
ShamronWait, hold on you just said the diarrhea . Last last night you said the chicken pox. He's doing the cocaine!
TobyNo don't make me laugh.
ShamronI don't know I don't know about the diarrhea um.
TobyI mean we both have had food poisoning is it is it kind of linked to food poisoning a little bit or is it just a much longer?
ShamronYeah I mean that's that's how I took it.
TobyOr do you think it's just more of a long drawn out process where it's not maybe as bad as like you know 48 hours for my uh for my food poisoning was around you know 48 hours and I I mean I couldn't move. So are these people.
ShamronWell let me see there's a there's a clinical name for this thing that it's it was a little difficult to pronounce. Yeah yeah yeah uh cyclos cyclospora or is it cyclospora? Cyclospora I think.
TobyYou're asking um the cyclos the cyclospora.
ShamronThe cyclospora. But yeah no that's a good that's a good question actually is it like a typical it it must be amplified food poisoning. It's got to be worse than that.
TobyI don't yeah like I you know we went through COVID. When I got COVID and I was working I had to call out for seven days because of having COVID. So do I just call my job every day and say hey I have massive diarrhea because I had Taco Bell and I can't come to work? Like how long does it last?
ShamronIt's kind of an embarrassing.
TobyDo you get a leave of absence?
ShamronYeah it's kind of an embarrassing thing to tell people.
TobyYou know, people are really embarrassed by that stuff but that's never embarrassed me really you know it's a part of human life. I'm not gonna go and tell you know hey Mary on the street hey girl I got massive diarrhea you know but you know you can call your job and be like I'm not feeling well maybe I'll use that at my new job. I have the cyclysporia or whatever it's called I have massive diarrhea I wonder if I could call.
ShamronExplosive explosive diarrhea.
TobyExplosive. Because I remember my old job that I used to work at if a girl came in because our manager at the time was a male and if you a girl came in and said hey I'm having cramps from my period he'd be like go home he was so like and it was made him so uncomfortable to for a woman to tell him you know I'm having cramps whatever.
ShamronAll right, final thought, one sentence or two. I'll go first . What's one thing you're still thinking about this week that you can't get out of your mind? I'll tell you what, I discovered press on nails. I get them on Amazon . They have revolutionized the nail game . They're so much better than they used to be. I can't believe I didn't discover this a couple years ago because I've been spending all this time and money at the salon and all of a sudden it's like oh my God, this is this is a game changer. I can't stop thinking about that. What about what about you?
TobyReally honestly nothing.
ShamronNot one thing is still lodged in your brain that you can't get out of your brain?
TobyYou know I think that um huh I think that the training with this new job and I think the fact that you know you and I have talked about this the little the break that we had in our friendship for a while that we've reconnected so that's kind of been um a positive thing for me an exciting thing you know to have somebody that knows my history and knows my life and everything to be reconnected. But other than that that's you know my mind is just I'm trying to settle my mind sometimes. I don't know.
ShamronYou just made me sound you made me sound extremely superficial by talking about press on nails and here you're like I'm thinking about my job and us reconnecting and I'm thinking about nails. No it's just it's just one random thing. I mean I'm thinking about a lot of things you know getting on that hamster wheel but that's just one thing. Um okay. That's fair.
TobyNo I mean that's really what's on my mind is pretty much this new job because as you know um it's new to me and it makes me a little nervous because I'm a perfectionist. So.
ShamronThe unknown is always a little a little scary or a little nerve wracking isn't it?
TobyAnd I and I think that it impacts me just a little bit more than maybe it does the average person or you know to blanket it I always want to be perfect but you know it's self-learning. I feel like I'm kind of there. But yeah hey, I'm sorry that you think about press on nails and I'm thinking about the change of the world.
